WWW Wednesdays

WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Should Be Reading. What you do is answer the following three questions:

What are you currently reading?

I'm a little more than halfway through A Game of Thrones now, and I'm really enjoying it. It's a very complex novel, and I am very curious to see how everything plays out. Also, I watched the first three episodes of the show this weekend, which seems to follow the book very closely. It also gave me some faces to connect with the characters.

What did you recently finish reading?

I read Ray Bradbury's short story, "The Pedestrian," which somebody shared on my facebook account following his death. It's the first thing I've read by him, and I really liked it. It's about a man who walks the streets at night alone because everybody else is inside their homes watching TV. Here's a link to the story: The Pedestrian.

What do you think you'll read next?

I was planning on reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Steven Chbosky, but none of the libraries I checked had a copy available. I assume with the movie coming out it's in high demand. If I can get my hands on it, that's what I'll read next. If not, I will read Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

  3. I tried reading the Game of Thrones a few months ago but couldn't get into it. I never read high fantasy anyway. But I'm going to try it again. Also, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is amazing! I read it about two years ago and loved it. I'm excited for the movie but there's no release date for UK/Ireland yet :(

  5. Those are all great choices. I loved Game of Thrones. The Pedestrian was one of the short stories in A Pleasure to Burn, which I just finished reading. Definitely a good one. Both Fahrenheit 451 and Perks are awesome books. I hope you enjoy all of them!

  9. Oh I cannot wait to dig into Game of Thrones! I'm half-way through season 2, and it is so much fun, I'm sure, as usual, the book is better. My students love the books and show. Looking forward to reading your review of it. I want to read more YA fiction, will look at your other reviews and see what titles I might read next. Good luck in the pursuit of your teaching career!

  11. I read Game of Thrones right after the show started and fell in love with both. I'm about 1/2 through Clash of Kings...I really need to sit down and finish it so I can check out season 2! I also really liked Fahrenheit 451 and really need to read more by Ray Bradbury.

  12. I read "The Pedestrian" for my English class, along with a couple of Bradbury's other short stories. They were all excellent. I'm intrigued by Game of Thrones, but am a little hesitant to get sucked in.
